Lent is a season of repentance, prayer and fasting. The season lasts for 40 days, beginning with Ash Wednesday and ending with Easter. The season reflects the 40 days Jesus spent in prayer and fasting in the desert before starting his public ministry.

Due to the icey roads and extreme temperatures, there will be NO Faith Formation  Grade 1 & 2 classes on Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Inclement Weather Information:
Please check this Religious Education Home Page and your local News Channles 5 & 7 for any announcements regarding class cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances (icy roads) during our winter season.  Please plan on St. Agnes Parish religious classes being cancelled when the town of reading closes schools due to poor weather.  As always we ask you to use your own parental discretion when traveling during these winter months regradless of classes being cancelled.  Safety is our priority!

Welcoming Sunday
The first Sunday of each month is committed to participation in the liturgy.
Families are expected to attend Mass in lieu of class at the very least monthly to affirm the teachings of the Church which children are learning in their classes.  The 9:00 AM Sunday Mass has a rich history of being attended by and supported by families with young children. Homilies are geared to this population and whole families participate in the many liturgical ministries during the Mass.  We not only invite you to attend, we invite you to join us in the good works building up this community and contribute to the efforts of glorifying the Lord with wonderful worship experiences provided.

Catechist Volunteers - Making our Program Great!

We appreciate the commitment of those who are willing to share their time, talent and Faith with the youth.  Larger Catechist response means smaller class sizes which benefits both children and Catechist.  Please pray for guidance; open your heart to hear if this is your calling.   See this page to  Volunteer as a Catechist

Grades 1 and 2:  Arrival/Dismissal Policy

Arrival - Classes begin at 10:15am or 12:15pm for later session.  All children gather on the 2nd floor of the Parish Center.   At this time, please check your child in to find out their teacher name and room number.  Important:  please make sure you know your child’s teacher’s name and his/her classroom number.
For the remainder of the year, children will meet on the 2nd floor at their designated class table.  Attendance will be taken after which children will proceed to the 3rd floor for classes.

Dismissal - Class dismissal is at 11:15am or 1:15pm for later session.  We ask that you wait on the 1st or 2nd floor until the dismissal time, rather than in the 3rd floor hallway.  Children will remain in their classroom until picked up by an authorized adult.

Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8:  Arrival/Dismissal Policy

Arrival - Students go directly to their classroom on the 3rd floor.

Dismissal -
Students who walk home:  If your child will be walking home (weekly or every now and then) we require parent permission.  Submit on-line by October 4, 2015:  Permission to Walk Home
Students who wil be picked up:  It is not necessary to go to the 3rd floor for pick-up.  Student pick-up will be in the designated waiting area, located by the garage, at the bottom of the parking lot.

Please maintain clear communication with your child regarding dismissal.  It is our hope that with clear communication we avoid situations where the parent arrives for pick-up to find that their child has decided to walk home.
